The San Pablo actually spent her life as a fruit transport ship running from Central America to the United States. The “Russian Freighter” is actually the Panamanian steam merchant S.S. San Pablo, which was torpedoed by the German submarine U-161 on July 2, 1942 in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica.
